Name two (or more) characters that I have shown evidence of including as a pairing (or non-romantic exclusivity, or pale romance, or really any quadrant will do, for Homestickers on my flist) in fanfic or original fic or Random Shit I Talk About On The Internets. I will answer with:

1. What they most commonly do during sex (if they are the sexing type)
2. Who has prettier (or just more attractive) hair
3. What they argue about most often
4. Who'd cope best if the other one died
5. The happiest plausible happily-ever-after I can think of for them
6. The most tragic possible ending for them
7. What I enjoy most about their dynamic
8. What I find difficult to write about them

COME AT ME, BRO

1. They're not usually that inventive, I don't think, although they do frequently indulge in light bondage and anything that doesn't feel too much like a Starfleet regulation trust exercise (which, as you can probably imagine, rather limits their options).
2. One. In my totally objective opinion. I'm a sucker for the straight, heavy, sheened black hair, okay, so sue me. Chris' curls can suck it.
3. I don't think they have many outright fights, actually, except about details of mission protocol or whatever, and those are more like discussions. As a couple, they tend to be very civilized and stew.
4. Probably Pike! I think One would be super fucking broken up by his death, not in a way that affected her job performance but in one that certainly affected everything else. More because of the loss of his friendship than anything else. Whereas while Pike would obviously be devastated by her loss, he also has the tools to get over it, I guess.
5. Going off at age ninety to help bring down the Orion Syndicate. Or possibly puttering around on Earth with a garden. As long as they live long enough, I can actually see most of their endings as happy.
6. CANON no um... I dunno, pretty much canon. >> I'm sure there are more tragic alternatives but that one is certainly the most tragic one I can think of.
7. I like that they are supercompetent partners, I guess, and that they would totally burn down the world for one another if they had to (and their duty did not stand in the way).
8. I continue to find One really difficult to write, as I have since I started writing her, sob.

1. Wild experimentation! They are Here To Have Fun and be unlikely bros in the pursuit of climax. That, and desperately clinging to each other in moments of emotional vulnerability when no one they love more dearly is around.
2. One. See my reasoning for Pike/One, except Kirk's hair is even more boring than Pike's. SORRY JIM.
3. Probably about crap like who looks better in a miniskirt.
4. Uh. Neither of them is particularly reliant on the other- I guess I'd go with One, because Jim really is not a fan of losing parental figures in his life, which however fun the sex is One sort of is, for him; whereas for One it would be sad but really not much different from any of the other close coworkers she's lost.
5. Being each other's immensely crotchety wingmen at age ~102 in alien bars, possibly.
6. I suppose if Pike died or you know got carted off to a planet of illusion-making aliens because you can't live a fulfilling life while paralyzed unless you're out of your head, obviously, and they tried to form a relationship based on what they had lost, that could only end horribly.
7. The weird juxtaposition of mentor-mentee and friends-with-benefits, I think. It's in some ways a less intense, melodramatic version of the Pike-Kirk dynamic, which is soothing.
8. STILL CAN'T WRITE ONE, bluh bluh bluh bluh.

. . . Charles and Raven. Clearly.

1. God. Um. Charles usually tops, I would imagine, and is generally very attentive- taking good care of his sister, and so on, in all possible ways! They both have a lot of other and more violent urges in each other's general direction but those are very rarely exercised, and then only in the guise of 'trying out new things', as if they actually viewed each other as test subjects rather than exactly the people they wanted in their arms right then.
2. Raven. NO ONE IS SHOCKED. She has all of the pretty hair, all of it, but even in her natural form wiry copper bob >>>> floppy brown nonsense.
3. The need to hide. :( And, on a more everyday level, the amount of freedom that should be allowed Raven and also Charles, to a lesser extent- not just in terms of the use of their powers but also when it comes to, you know, what to drink in bars, and who to fuck, etc., etc.
4. Man, that's a tough one. I'm going to say Charles, probably- as much as he loves her he does consistently and repeatedly take her for granted, and while he'd be full of self-recrimination and regret for ages after she died, he still, ultimately, doesn't rely on her as much as she does him for much of the movie. And even after their ultimate parting, Raven seems like she's in a position to feel the kind of guilt that's more difficult to come back from, if he died while she wasn't around.
5. sob Uh. God, I... I really don't. CHARLES IS TOO MUCH OF A DICK, I CAN'T MAKE IT HAPPEN IN MY HEAD. Alas.
6. I think Raven having stayed, with Charles, helping him and living two steps behind his shoulder, would have been terribly tragic. For both of them, really, though especially for Raven, because if she'd stayed I don't know that Charles would have learned even as much as he did about his own blindness.
7. SIBLINGS. Adorable, snarky, casually hurtful siblings. Their banter is my favorite and always will be.
8. Well, as a pairing... I am pretty squicked out by the siblings aspect, on some level, which in light of how many actual blood-related siblings I ship, but IT'S DIFFERENT OKAY. They are so very much family, and I oscillate between shipping them and not because on the one hand, gross, but on the other hand, hot.

My internal debates are hugely sophisticated.

WAS THAT A REQUEST FOR THE COMICS VERSION

I CAN TELL YOU IT LOOKS QUITE A BIT DIFFERENT.

Although the 'happy ending' is equally difficult to picture.

Rhod, posting anon.

CHARLES IS TOO MUCH OF A DICK, I CAN'T MAKE IT HAPPEN IN MY HEAD. Alas.

In my head, the answer this is the one where Charles wipes shapeshifting out of Raven's head.

Forgive me my denseness, but Rhod, who are you?

Also I. I guess that would technically lead to a perfectly workable Happy Ending, albeit one LACED WITH HORROR from a fourth wall-external perspective. :C

Who are any of us, really?

(It was me. I forgot that "rhod" isn't actually explicitly part of my LJ name -- it was a couple LJ identities ago)

I really do like the idea of that, except I also like to imagine that if Charles did that and Erik found out, there would be some blood on the walls. They were just following orders wouldn't have anything on it.

...God I want to write that story.

And Raven would open yellow-green eyes the moment Charles finally closed his, and look up at Erik, and when Erik apologized she'd say nothing at all.

RIGHT?

RIGHT?

You should write it. Like. A lot. It's a mystery, only the murder is something you don't find out about until the end, and it's only after that Charles dies in the sand.

( Raven would open yellow-green eyes the moment Charles finally closed his. SERIOUSLY, YOU HAVE THE STYLE TO WRITE THIIIIS.)

And the last scene is a memory of the first time Erik found them, when Raven had very gently told him that yes, this was what she wanted, and after he'd left again remembered nothing but the faint tang of copper on her tongue; and Charles kissed her cheek through the fall of her blonde hair, looking at her with eyes the color of bruises (although, after a moment's thought, he decided not to let the bruise on his jaw show. Erik hadn't meant it, after all, and Charles wanted nothing less than he wanted to worry her.)

TOO MUCH DAMN INCEST IN THIS POST

(Link)
1. Cowgirl style logically must come into it somewhere. Also, unrestrained and joyful tussling that only involves nakedness half the time.
2. Elena. Can't beat the red.
3. Pike lodging his horse in her stables indefinitely while he gallivants around space, presumably.
4. Erk. Not... totally sure? My first instinct is Elena, but idk. They're both fairly independent people who seem like they'd cope relatively well with death, at least, if not with everything else.
5. Tramping around on a ranch into their old age.
6. Ummmmm. You tell me. /endearing smile
7. Snarky terrible siblings who form a deeply frightening team and take no shit dynamic.
8. LOL I'VE NEVER REALLY TRIED, but, I expect I would have a lot of trouble writing Elena, just because of concerns about accuracy, &c.

1. re: cowgirl - I concur! If only because Chris is lazy and literally does not give a fuck. :)

(The tussling is a Matter of Dire Importance, obviously. He is very un-lazy about that.)

2. ACTUALLY Topher's hair was the same color! He just went grey earlier because of trauma of the year he was MIA. :/

3. Yes. Except it's all a misdirect. I really should finish the Coldest Welcome Ever fic....

4. Ahahaha I think, vis a vis Anyone Else in the Universe they are independent (except maaaaaaaaybe Uncle X, and Chris is a total mama's boy) but they are actually sort of crazy-co-dependent? I know that Elena would be devastated if anything happened to Chris, because things *have* happened and she was devastated, but Things Happening To Topher is a dread she's been living with for a very long time, so yeah, she'd handle it. Very badly, but she'd handle it.

If Elena died, Chris would be taken completely by surprise, and then pretend it didn't happen. Which is sort of the opposite of coping.

again, I really need to finish the Coldest Welcome Ever fic, and probably properly BPoBD rather than in Rambleverse.

5. Awwwwww. I like that, too. /CANON

6. I try not to think about this. :/ But it is an interesting question, because I feel like they can weather just about anything if they're together, and if one of them dies they'll deal with it eventually (and it is a natural thing to do, dying) so the most possible tragic ending ever would have to have some flavor of living separation. But then, they spend a lot of their adult lives in separate atmospheres, and do alright just knowing that the other one is out there, so... idk.

It'd be terrible if they ended up doing only unimportant things. Like, Chris gets stuck in a desk job somewhere and Elena has to spend every day with Anise. And they're never allowed to go outside and play.

8. I could have sworn you'd written Elena before? But no, you've just written Josa multiple times. AND DID QUITE WELL, actually, so I'd like to see you write Elena. ^^
